Disease Classification

Among the several terms that have been used to describe lymphatic disorders are lymphangiomatosis, Gorham-Stout disease, lymphangiectasia, central conducting lymphatic anomaly, lymphatic malformation, kaposiform lymphangiomatosis and, (most recently) generalized lymphatic anomaly.

In an effort to bring standardization to the nomenclature for these conditions, a new classification system for vascular anomalies was approved at the April 2014 General Assembly of International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA) in Melbourne, Australia: ISSVA Classification of Vascular Anomalies ©2014 International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies
