Capstone Project Yields Over $800 for Research
When Julian Cardenas, a 10-year-old in New York, was assigned to complete a capstone project at the end of his academic year he decided on Gorham-Stout disease as his topic. Julian was diagnosed with GSD when he was just 2 years old and wanted to raise awareness about the disease and money for research.
Julian’s efforts resulted in over $400 being donated to the LGDA for GSD research. In order to maximize its impact on research, the money Julian raised was added to the Million Dollar Bike Ride event in which the LGDA participates each spring. Funds donated through the MDBR are matched by an anonymous donor, so the money Julian raised was matched through the fund for a total of over $800 directed to research for GSD!
Julian also participated in #LGDAwareness Day on May 26.
