Florida 10-year-old Raises $250 for Research
Ten-year-old Hunter Joiner of Florida was diagnosed in 2016 with lymphangiomatosis, also known as generalized lymphatic anomaly (GLA), and he wanted to do something to help everyone with the rare disease. So, he decided to sell t-shirts to raise money for the LGDA.
When the fundraiser was over, Hunter had raised $250, which he sent to the LGDA with a request that it be spent on research. As it happened, the donation window was still open for the Million Dollar Bike Ride event in which the LGDA participates each spring. Funds donated through the MDBR are matched by an anonymous donor, so the LGDA forwarded the funds Hunter raised to the MDBR, thereby doubling the funds available for research to $500!
