Warrior Alfie Starts to School

Alfie on his way to his first day of school.

Alfie Milne’s parents, Mark and Tracy Milne, generously shared his story on our website earlier this year. At the time Alfie had been on Rapamune/sirolimus for a few months and had just received his walking frame.

Now, Alfie has been on the drug for almost a year, since September 2011, and is doing remarkably well.

“The change in his health is amazing. It makes a difference to his well-being,” says Tracy. “It’s not a cure, unfortunately, but his walking is coming on really well. He took his first unaided steps in June. . .He’s just finding his feet.”

We are happy to report that Alfie began school this month in his hometown of Peterculter, Scotland, and that, with the aid of his walking frame, he WALKED to school with Mum, Dad, and his older brother!

“We are very proud. We never thought we would be at this point where he could go to school as well and as mobile as he is.”

Congratualtions Alfie! The LGDA community sends you best wishes on your new journey.
