I've had abdominal acscites or what they call "loculated pockets of fluid" in the peritoneal cavity for over 5 years.  Though it is not progressing agressively, it is slowly causing me to have a bigger belly.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello Jayna,

I was diagnosed with Lymphangiomatosis in 1991 but had my first cyst removed in 1987 as it grew and disrupted organs. Mine are in my chest but sounds similar to what you are seeing. I still have masses in my chest and cysts in my spleen and will leave them there until a problem arises. I hope you find a good medical doctor to work with.

John

I'm a gorhams patient

hi jana, can you tell me how these abdonimal fluid pockets were found, by xray, ct, mri or possibly ultrasound? I've had increasing pressure in the middle of my stomach which seems to coincide with breathing problems. Xrays, ct so far have shown nothing.

Hi Jessica,

I was seeing a pulmonary specialist for problems with my lungs and during one of my visits I told him that I felt pressure below my left lung.  It also appeared that my belly looked a little bigger.  I was extremely thin at the time so I noticed right away.  I asked my doctor to do a CT scan because I knew that it could affect any part of the body except the brain.  He was reluctant, but finally conceded.  Sure enough the abdominal CT scan they did (with contrast) came back stating I had "loculated pockets of fluid splayed throughout my abdominal cavity). This they followed up with an Ultrasound which allowed them to look at the pockets more closely.  This all happened about 5 years ago.  Today - I still have the fluid and they do a CT scan with contrast to monitor it.

Hi and welcome. My daughter Robin, was on a low fat no fat diet for many years. We learned a whole new way of cooking. She said she could tell how she was feeling and if she felt good she ate what she wanted and if she didn't, she stuck to the nofat diet.
She was diagnosed when she was 15 and given 6 months to live.
She lost her battle at age 25.

My almost 3 yr old daughter has just recently experienced the same thing. She discharged lymph, blood and clots from her vagina for 24 hours and then it suddenly stopped. She was investigated under anesthetic and there was no evidence of where it came from. The doctors think she may have disease in her uterus which is difficult to see on MRI. Did you experience discomfort with it? How long did it last?

Shannon,
Hi, when I was about 10 years (in 1989) old I had the problem of chylus-like fluid discharge from vagina for about several weeks and it suddenly stopped until recently the sympton appeared again.
In 1989,I was diagnosed with "lymphangioectasia" (something wrong with my lymphatic system but they did not know why and how to treat it)
My first time of chylus discharge made me fatique and body weight loss because the discharge contained protein and fat but this time I hardly have uncomfortable feeling probably I have fat-free diet for a long time.
hope my experience helpful to you. (I have to sorry for my English because it is not my mother tongue.)
