Thank you for your donation to the Lymphangiomatosis and Gorham’s Disease Alliance. Because lymphangiomatosis and Gorham’s disease are so rare, the LGDA relies on your voluntary, tax deductible contributions to improve the quality of life for those affected by these diseases and support research to improve diagnosis and treatment. Your donations help us to provide patients and their family’s much-needed educational information and help to keep them connected with one another through a worldwide patient network. When you give a gift to the LGDA you also are making an important contribution to the effort to raise awareness and support efforts that will lead to a cure.
On April 1, 2011, the LGDA made its very first award of $30,000 to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for a research project to study for the cause of lymphangiomatosis and Gorham’s disease. The total project is expected to be $50,000. As far as we know, this is the first award of its kind in pursuit of identifying the pathogenesis of these two very rare diseases—an award that would not be possible without the help of generous donors.
In addition to our Patient Support activities and the CHOP project we currently are seeking donors to help fund our efforts to support the establishment of an international disease registry and support a biobank containing blood, serum, and tissue samples from patients which will allow scientific investigators to conduct research to identify effective treatments and ultimately a cure.
